Editorial policy
What we will publish, what we will not, and how a claim gets into a story.
Sourcing
Factual claims are sourced to primary material wherever primary material exists. Every story carries its references at the foot of the page, and claims that rest on a source carry a numbered marker pointing at it. The full detail is in oursource policy.
What we do not publish
- Invented specifics. No statistic, date, dimension or standard appears in a story unless it was read from a real source. Where a figure could not be verified, the mechanism is described without it rather than approximated.
- Quotations and interviews. The Journal does not currently conduct interviews, and it does not quote anyone. A quotation that was not said is not a stylistic liberty, it is a fabrication. When we publish interviews, they will be real ones.
- Advice about your body. Nothing here is medical, physiotherapeutic, coaching, dietary or safety advice. Stories explain how a movement produces force; they do not tell a reader what to do with theirs.
- Manufactured urgency. The Journal publishes evergreen and semi-evergreen work. It does not cover results, transfers, selection or ongoing controversies, and it does not dress an essay up as news to reach a news surface.
- Invented popularity. No "trending", no "most read", no engagement counts, until there is a measurement behind them.
Bylines
Stories are bylined to the SocialSportHub editorial desk. When named writers work on the Journal, they will be named, with real biographies. We would rather carry an institutional byline than invent a masthead — see who writes this.
Corrections
Corrections are made in place, dated, and shown on the story itself. See ourcorrections policy.
Neutrality
The Journal writes about sports, not about the politics around them, and it does not rank athletes, clubs or nations. Where a technique or a piece of equipment has genuine trade-offs, the story states them rather than declaring a winner.
Independence
The Journal accepts no payment for editorial coverage. It has no commercial relationship with any federation, manufacturer or venue named in its reporting, and it carries no advertising. Where a story has any disclosure to make, the disclosure appears on the story.
