Warm-up
A warm-up is a period of gentle activity done before exercise to prepare the body for harder effort.
Definition
A warm-up is the easy start to a session, where you gradually raise your heart rate and ease the body into movement before the main activity begins. It often mixes light aerobic movement, such as jogging or gentle cycling, with mobility drills or slower versions of the movements you are about to do.
Warming up is common across almost every sport, from a runner starting with an easy jog to a footballer doing light passing drills before kick-off. The general idea is to move from rest to full effort in stages rather than all at once, so the harder work feels more manageable.
