Position
Pivot
The pivot is a handball attacker who plays close to the opposition defence, setting screens and looking for chances near the goal area.
Position
Overview
Also called the line player or circle runner, the pivot operates right up against the defensive line near the goal area. They set screens (blocks) to disrupt defenders and open space for teammates to shoot.
Strong and physical, the pivot fights for position, receives passes in tight areas, and finishes from close range while constantly working within a crowd of defenders.
Responsibilities
- Plays close to the opposition defence near the goal area.

- PlaymakerThe playmaker is a team's creative hub — the player who orchestrates attacks, controls the tempo and distributes the ball so teammates can score.
- All-RounderAn all-rounder is a versatile player who contributes across attack and defence rather than specialising in a single phase, position, or skill.
